Tea Trolley 900
The Tea Trolley 900 by Aino and Alvar Aalto features a blend of multicultural influences, including British tea tradition and Japanese architecture and carpentry. Constructed from bent birch wood, it also features a ceramic tiled top and a practical rattan basket, while the two wheels are made of white painted wood with black rubber gaskets.
Presented at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1937, the trolley is a classic example of functionalist furniture, versatile and full of character, embellished with sober multicultural references that give it its characteristic look. A multifunctional piece, it can serve as a service piece as well as a coffee or cocktail table, adapting gracefully to various contexts.
